It’s piCture pOlish Thursday again and today I bring you another sparkly gem that is part of the Limited Edition Collaboration shades! piCture pOlish is an amazing brand that created the Collaboration Shades, polishes that the piCture pOlish Girls created with bloggers or their Network members (online vendors). How cool is that?

piCture pOlish Atomic was created with blogger Sarah of Samarium’s Swatches, and launched in January of this year. Sarah was inspired by the element Samarium, her blog namesake, a silvery white metal. Samarium oxidizes in the air, forming a grayish-yellow powder, and that is why there is gold shimmer sparkle in her creation!

piCture pOlish describes Atomic as a silver/white metallic holo (scattered) that has NO glitter.  Atomic contains a holographic shimmer to create a magical shade, complex with a lot going on!

Atomic is a pale silver with a warm tint, making it suitable to, in my opinion, all skin tones. It is perfect for layering – it’s sheer enough to be a top coat-type polish in order to change the base colour, but today I wanted to capture its pure beauty. Below I used two generous coats of Atomic over base coat, and luckily it was a sunny day so that you can see the amazing holo sparkle!

picturepolish_atomic

I personally like VNL (visible nail lines), but if you wanted total opacity, you could add a third coat of Atomic or layer it. You know what else is amazing? Atomic dries super-quickly, so you don’t have to worry about layering or using three coats!

Here is a picture of Atomic slightly blurred to show off the amazing delicate holo for you:

Do you think I should layer Atomic over a coloured base next time?

Being the product junkie that I am, I try a lot of new products. A LOT. And how do I know when a new shower or hair product is amazing?

Well… it mysteriously disappears from my shower.

And I can’t use it when I’m in there…

Until I go for a walk… over to the hubby’s shower…

And that’s exactly what happened with Dial’s new Triple Moisture Ultra Moisturizing Body Wash! It “walked” away. Straight into the hubby’s shower!!

  • Shea Butter
  • Jojoba Butter

Happy piCture pOlish Thursday! It’s time for another Ozotic, an Aussie brand that piCture pOlish added to their portfolio (lucky for us!)! Today I have for you a brand-new polish for me: Ozotic 621, part of their 600 series which are all scattered holos.

Ozotic 621 is described as “a deep red holo that has no glitter! 621 contains a scattered holo element that will bring rainbows to your fingertips! Your nails will take on a whole new dimension when in bright light or sunlight.” 621 is FILLED with a rainbow-hued holo, creating a three-dimensional, gorgeous effect on your nails, even outside of direct light… Though it’s described as a deep red, I saw a lot of orange in the base which makes it quite a warm red. When the light hits 621, it sparkles with a lot of gold reflection. Gorgeous!

I applied two beautiful, easy coats of 621 over basecoat, with a coat of China Glaze’s Fast Forward Top Coat. Ozotic 621 applied easily, self-levelling, and could even be a one-coater if you’re in a hurry. It’s the fluid, heavily pigmented consistency that made me fall in love with the entire piCture pOlish line – and the best part? It dries super-fast!

In artificial light:

Ozotic_6212

Look at that shine!!!! Don’t you love the depth that the holo creates?

Now look at it come alive in sunlight:

Ozotic_621

Earlier I fell in love with the Ozotic Sugars and Beam lines, and today, I am in love with Ozotic’s amazing scattered holo. If you have never tried the 600 series, you must.

It’s piCture pOlish Thursday again, almost time for the weekend, and time for a party-ready glitter bomb: Blogger, the newest addition to the piCture pOlish lineup! I also have anothger review of Revolution, the new base coat made specifically for glitter polishes!

Blogger is described as “a colourful sparkly ode to you all! ‘indie-esque’ glitter creation!  Blogger is jam packed with multi-coloured glitters and has a very thick consistency.  Full coverage with one to two coats with no base colour.” And jam-packed with glitter it is. Blogger is a bottle full of various colours of glitter, and I literally placed an order the moment it launched! (Along with Hope, see it here.)

I decided to layer Blogger over a base coat of Revolution (get it, Blogger Revolution?), a base coat made specifically for glitters (My Hope post has the details around Revolution’s application.) After 2 coats of Revolution, I applied 2 coats of OPI’s Eurso Euro, a gorgeous bright, deep indigo creme, followed by a gradient of Blogger. The result, in my opinion, was amazing:

picturepolish_Blogger1

Eurso Euro was a gorgeous contrast and played nicely off the bright glitters in Blogger!

Here are a couple of sun pictures:

OPI_Eurso_ppBloggerLook at that crazy sparkle!!! All natural, no photo tricks!

picturepolish_Blogger

Blogger was quite thick due to its glitter content. It has a clear base, and is probably thick enough to provide full coverage in just two coats. I wiped the brush in order to get the gradient effect you see above.

As for removal, I found Revolution to make removal a touch easier, but I still had to do some good scrubbing to get the thickest part of glitter off. I also think I rushed Revolution’s initial 2-coat application, and that led to it removing easier on some nails than others. Another thing to note is that Revolution balls or pills when removing polish, so I went over the nail one last time just to wipe those little pieces off. I’ll definitely use Revolution again when wearing Blogger – I think it will need all the help it can get for removal! ;)

Once again the amazing girls at piCture pOlish have recognized their fans and their bloggers, creating this ode to indie-like glitter polish for us to adore.

Get your very own bottle of Blogger and Revolution by visiting piCture pOlish on-line and or any piCture pOlish Network member, including Harlow & Co, Llarowe and Nail Polish Canada. They had both sold out last week, but more is on the way!

Today I have a new brand that I have been really excited about – a Canadian-based company from Vancouver named la couleur couture, or lacc for short. Based on a vision of creating a nail polish with no toxins that is highly pigmented and with UV protection, lacc beauty was founded by a beautiful woman named Farima Hakkak. Hoping to inspire women to follow their heart, the brand logo of open wings represents freedom, passion and hope.  Some more information about this emerging brand:

la couleur couture is a unique vegan friendly nail polish collection containing no toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, camphor and toluene. Classy and edgy with couture quality staying power, la couleur couture is available in a range of fashion-forward and trendy colours.

The unique basecoat formula ensures long lasting protection, while the topcoat offers unmatched diamond-like shine. Each polish contains a protective UV inhibitor so women can wave goodbye to brittle and yellow nails, and say hello to gorgeously coloured and healthy nails!

Headquartered in Vancouver and manufactured in New York, la couleur couture officially launched in March 2013 and the first collection is available online for global shipping.

Something even more amazing? la couleur couture is a strong supporter of community and charitable causes for women in need.

Let’s have a look at the gorgeous polishes, named by years not phrases. 2011 is a pale shimmery yellow, with a hint of mustard, or what looks like a drop of green to mute the colour a little. I loved this shade on me! I know not everyone likes to wear yellow polishes, but I love the colour in summer and am lucky to be able to pull it off with my olive skin. I wore 3 thin coats over lacc’s rubberized base coat, 2012, with a layer of 2013, lacc’s top coat:

LACC_2011

In the bottle and in the shade (above), 2011 shimmers a little, but it truly comes alive in the sun. Look:

LACC_2011Sun

It is such a gorgeous summer shade! Application was relatively easy as this was one of the thicker lacc polishes, but there may be some streakiness due to the frosty base of this polish.

The next colour is 1976, a robin’s egg-blue with a hidden purple shimmer. 1976 leans very pale, and the shimmer shows best in direct sunlight. This polish was very sheer, so I could have used one more coat. Here are three coats with lacc’s base and top coats:

LACC_1976Isn’t the shimmer beautiful?

I loved the pale eggshell shade of 1976 and decided to play with it a little. I settled on French tips in pure white:

LACC_1976Fr

I loved this look!! 1976 has a cool softness that makes it perfect against bright white! What do you think?

Both of the lacc polishes were on the thinner side, very fluid, and requiring three coats for full opacity. The lacc base coat, 2012, is rubberized to provide strong adhesion, and the top coat, 2013, promises diamond-like shine with superior wear and chip-resistance. I wore both 1976 and 2011 with lacc’s base and top coat for 3 or 4 days with nary a chip or dullness. I can’t wait to show you a few more lacc colours soon!

lacc la couleur couture is available directly through their website, as well as through Harlow & Co and Llarowe. Don’t forget to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest!

Have you tried any lacc products yet?

(Products provided for consideration and review. All opinions are my own.)

It’s piCture pOlish Thursday, and today I have for you a beautiful new Collaboration Shade, polishes that the piCture pOlish Girls created with bloggers or their Network members–Hope by Vernis en Folie! This shade was launched less than 2 weeks ago by Bé of Vernis en Folie (see her launch blog post here), along with two other brand-new Collaboration Shades, and I knew I had to place an immediate order. This was one of the fastest non-indie polish purchases I ever made!! Well, we digress… let’s get to the task at hand, shall we?

Hope was inspired by the impending birth of Bé’s little girl in 2013 (she has now arrived). Hope is described as a dark teal blue jelly scattered holo with a subtle smattering of cobalt glitter designed to come alive with a little shake of the bottle. Have I told you how much I adore its name??

At first glance, I thought Hope was going to be similar to Cosmos (created with Pshiiit–see my review here!), though I could see it was much darker… like the depth of the ocean. Or the dark-clouded sky before a storm. Pshiiit herself has done a fantastic comparison of three of the blue-toned Collaboration Shades – see her post here. Hope is stunning. What I loved was its darkness with the glimmer of a subtle holo and tiny, sporadic blue glitter pieces. The glitter totally sets it apart from Cosmos, as does its teal base (Cosmos is much bluer). Hope, much like most of my piCture pOlish products, was an easy application: fluid yet providing lots of coverage on one coat, self-levelling, incredibly quick drying! My two coats were dry before I even had the chance to apply top coat, and I like to use medium to heavier coats.

And did I tell you that I applied Hope over two coats of Revolution, piCture pOlish’s new glitter base coat? Here are the details around Revolution, which you apply just like any base coat, except you are advised to use two coats:

Using ‘Revolution’ base enables you to remove your glitter polish similar to normal nail polish!

Application

Apply 2 coats of Revolution as your base (allow drying time in between)

Revolution dries fast, is not PVA Glue, does not a peel off. Also can be used as a top coat for ‘foil manicures’ discovered by Cathy from More Nail Polish!

Apply your glitter polish as you normally do.

Removal

Soak your makeup pad in nail polish remover and cover your nail, soak, leave for 15 seconds, remove.

Apply more remover to the pad, cover your nail and give it a good scrub. Continue the process and the glitter will remove with ease.

Please note: Individual results may vary – designed to work with piCture pOlish shades.

Here are two coats of gorgeous Hope with over Revolution, pre-top coat!

picturepolish_HopeI’m sorry, have you seen piCture pOlish’s shine???

Here is a photo with flash, so you can see the beautiful holo:

picturepolish_HopeFl

Does that not look like a black, stormy night sky filled with stars?

Best part? Not an ounce of staining after wearing this the past few days!

And I’m sure you want to know about Revolution’s removal. I followed the instructions and soaked each nail for about 10 – 15 seconds, and although this is not a glitter polish, it does contain glitter and I was eager to see how Revolution worked. I found that the polish would start to come off onto the cotton pad even before I started rubbing the nail bed, and the glitter barely stuck to my nail. Throughout the removal, Revolution was pilling a little on my nail, like little dry balls of eraser left behind on a sheet of paper, though very soft and rubbery. My polish came off easily, quickly, no scrubbing needed! I have already applied it under my next mani… let’s see how it holds up against glitter though I am prepared to be impressed!

I love this brand. I love how the Girls are fully immersed in social media, and I love how much they love their bloggers and customers. They have amazing giveaways on Facebook, so be sure to follow them (if you don’t already!). Get your very own bottle of Hope (I just love saying that) and Revolution by visiting piCture pOlish on-line and or any piCture pOlish Network member, including Harlow & Co, Llarowe and Nail Polish Canada. I believe they might both be sold out at the moment, but more is on the way!
